As I am sure you are aware that the school sent home a letter to all the 11th grade students attempting to force all the Junior class to pay for prom even if they were not planning to attend.  This outrageous FEE of $240 per student makes you wonder what your child is getting for this amount.  It must be through the roof.. Right.  Well it is not!  it is over priced due to a failure on the part of the school administration who failed to plan adequately.  The Prom committee consists of  a undetermined number students and faculty, led by one person who has apparently made most of the choices.  The “One” chose the following items.  

Just some quick math, 23 students in the 11th grade @ $240 comes to $5520

• The DJ will apparently be the same person who does the dances.  paid  $250
• The  Catering for finger foods will be $640 (see menu below)
• The decorations will be $2700 provided and setup by decorator from birmingham. ( not by the prom committee, see items provided below)
• Students will be charged for any pictures taken by the photographer that will be there.

According to a phone call with  the State, the school can not force this fee upon any student that does not plan to attend.

I checked what other schools around us are charging and can not find another school charging over $100 per student and that school is having a full dinner service, not finger foods.   I am well aware that  there are only 23 students.  But our  prom committee made no effort to save money in anyway ,or look at other options such as the one that is suggested on this page.  I ask you to consider where you spend your money and for what reason without validation.

What I suggest is that the students Host their own Alternate Prom for a lot less.

on the same night May 17 from 6p to 11P at Dave and Buster’s in Birmingham AL.

Here is what Each Student can get for just $85

• FOOD: Flatbread Pizza (3 slices per guest), Boneless Wings with Ranch, Mini All Beef Pretzel Dogs with Ketchup, Garlic Butter Pretzel Sticks with Marinara, French Fries and Fountain Drinks.
• GAMES: Power Cards with Unlimited Video Game Play are good for non-redemption games ONLY. Your unlimited video game play will begin at the first swipe of the power card and will be available until the location closes on the day of your event
• ROOM: Private room for 50+ attendees, with music and dance area, food buffet.
• PHOTOS: The Photographer on site will provide all the digital images for FREE and we will print the 2 5×7 of you prom pose picture included and sent to the school to you child.
• PROM SWAG : Not yet decided but something with Prom 2025 printed on it.

All of this for Just $85 per person.

The pricing requires 15 participants minimum, that is 7-11th graders and 7-Dates  plus one more person. 

Of all the Juniors contacted over the last few days and their Dates, 85% or better want the alternate PROM  and less than 4 people want the Official prom with two additional being forced to go.
